For the last four years, our center has proudly served the Pinellas County Special Olympics. Because we believe in the cause so strongly, each year, we administer free sports physicals to each participant prior to Special Olympics.

Special Olympics FloridaThe Special Olympics were founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and since then, have grown into the world’s biggest and most celebrated sports organization for disabled people. The Special Olympics provides 5.3 million disabled athletes around the world with a fun and comfortable platform to excercise and compete against their peers.

The Pinellas County chapter of the Special Olympics currently offers 14 different sports to participate in, as well as a number of other social events. With 1,047 current athletes, the Special Olympics grow bigger each year in eastern Florida.

AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care Clearwater will routinely see groups of competitors who visit the center to receive a 100% free sports physical. We are inspired every time we see an athlete or coach walk into our center, as they illustrate the organization’s mission to¬†demonstrate courage and experience the joy in competitive sports.
